Zavier's 1st Dentist Visit

Finally got down to make an appt for Zavier with a Dentist.  Decided to go to The Kids Dentist, recommended by Zavier's PD.

We reach there just in time.  The whole reception area is filled with toys! Zavier of cos was busy with all the new toys while I make the registeration.

Very fast, it was our turn.  Dr Rashid introduced himself and tried to make friends with Zavier.  He first gave us a intro to teeth etc.  As Zavier was very interested in the set of Fake Teeth, he went ahead to teach Zavier how to brush correctly first... show us some pics of rotten teeth etc.

Then he wanted Zavier to sit down so that he can check his set of teeth.  Zavier very willing sat down and open his mouth....He took a count and check each tooth.  All his teeth are out, 20 of them... but his 2 front tooth seems to hv decay!!! :(  Due to Zavier's recent fall, Dr Rashid wanted a xray to be taken to make sure the roots are alright thus we proceeded to the xray room.  Zavier followed the friendly nurse by himself, sat on the chair, wore the gear for the xray.

We waited for awhile again for the xray to be out.  Lucky the xray shows that the root is alright however we still need to monitor closely.  Also the xray also shows his decay! :(  Dr Rashid advise me to stop his bottle and change to cup drinking... hmmm...

After that, polishing and scaling were done on Zavier and he very nicely cooperated.  My Brave Boy! :)

We will be back again 6mths later... hope his decay don't worsen! :(

Sundays With Us - Creative Movement Workshop

Last minute enrolled Zavier to this Sunday With Us program.  He was all excited when I told him it's the same place as the Gruffalo class... However, he was all shy when he realised that the teachers were different from the last class and refused to go in....  After some convincing, he went in and from my peek, he seems moody in the class. :(  Luckly, as he watched the class, he snapped out of his foul mood and joined in the class... Phew...  2hrs later, class ended... all the kids rush out of the classroom but I didn't see Zavier.  He was still with his teachers and last to come out. Haha... As usual, he would talked about what happened in class... It seems like it's related to the "Princess and frog prince" and he enjoyed it very much... he wants to come back again.  Sigh... this boy... seems slow in warming up at times. :)

Mandeville Annual Concert 2009

We skipped last year concert... this year we were here again.   Zavier seems to be able to appreciate the performance better now...no more fidgeting ard like last year.

Zavier was supposed to participate in the last item, just be the dancer on stage.  During rehersal, he was already not cooperative and refused to go on the stage.  I was all prepared to withdraw him.  However, on Sunday, he suddenly said that he wants to go up stage and dance?!?!?!?  Thus I still dressed him up according to theme and went for the concert.

Thru out the 1st part and during interval, he kept saying he wants to go stage.... thus after the interval, I brought him to the waiting area.  As usual, he was like a monkey at the waiting area.. all was fine until the minute he WAS on stage! Perhaps stage fright or "audience fright" or watever, he turned back! wahahhaha!!!
Aiyoh.. my boy... Always thought that he had no fear in anything... but see... he does have fear! :p

Character Montessori Nov 09 Parents-Teacher Meeting

So fast, another 5mths had past and now it's year end Parents-Teacher Meeting. This round, only Li Laoshi is around to give us review and Ms Lee would be doing it via phone next month.

Li laoshi's review.
1) We still remember very clearly how uncooperative Zavier was during the 1st half, thus again she stressed that it's all over now. Zavier is very cooperative and "shun fu" now. He is always ready to listen to teachers’ instructions and follow them.
2) He is advanced academically. However, he would not be bored even though he knows already. Instead he seems to have leadership quality and would help and encourage his friends to try/do it as well.
3) He is very inquisitive and always asking teachers WHY. This is very good and should be encourage all the time.
4) He is very attentive during class and always 1st few to volunteer answers or to demo etc. And he is one of the few kids that can follow Li laoshi in “lang song”. Li Laoshi gave an example. Li Laoshi told the kids, I say 1st sentence, and children say 2nd sentence ok? The kids all says ok… but after Li Laoshi says 1st sentence, all the kids would repeat the 1st sentence, only Zavier would understand and say out the 2nd sentence to her.
5) Socially no issues too. He plays well with young kids, his classmates and older kids too. Willing to share and take turns etc.
6) Eating, sleeping and toilet training all no issues. I thought he was one of the slowest in toilet training, but she says no, infact, once she started training him, he is very fast. Some kids started first, but have to retract back to diaper as they were not ready etc. Thus we also briefly talk about when is a good time for night training.

We also briefly talk about the future esp the upcoming arrival of Baby Zayden. We both agree that no matter how much I prep Zavier, they would need to go thru a stage of acceptance. Thus next few months might be tough again.

Next year, Li Laoshi would not be his class teacher. However, she was quick to mention, that she might still be taking care of them esp in the afternoon and also she is in charge of the Chinese Music and movement time for the nursery class. Thus still have lots of chances to be with Zavier.

Must really thank Li Laoshi for her patience and dedication in taking care and teaching Zavier for almost 1yr 3mths. She had also given me lots of tips and suggestions to be a better mother thru our calls/sms. She is really a gem. :)

These are Zavier's Art and craft work from school...

The Jungle Book

SRT’s The Little Company creates its very own unique adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale, The Jungle Book that takes you and your children on a fun-filled adventure through the Jungles of India.

Join Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves, and his friends Bagheera - the panther and Baloo - the bear in this magical world where the animals can talk. Mowgli is being taught the ways of the jungle, but one day he finally stumbles into the human world and learns a few lessons too….

This fantastic tale reinforces respect for life, embracing differences and the idea of harmony for all living things and is a show that both the young and old would definitely enjoy!

A family show for 4 year-olds and above.  A new play adapted and directed by Michael Corbidge.

Indeed this seems to be one of the best show of the year. It's interactive, interesting, colourful, attracting etc for the kids. Zavier was all glued to the stage throughout the show. Too bad the songs are not the usual Disney's Jungle Book songs, if not, I think Zav would be even happier. :)

Swimmy, Frederick & Inch by Inch by Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Canada

From the performing company that brought you ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar & other Eric Carle Favourites’, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia returns with Leo Lionni’s exquisite collage of picture books! The three Caldecott Honor books, SWIMMY, FREDERICK & INCH BY INCH, are among Lionni’s most beloved works. Their images are strikingly beautiful, and their texts are whimsical yet wistful.

Swimmy is a tiny insignificant fish in the vast ocean who uses ingenuity to fend off danger. Frederick, a mouse who is a poet from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail, makes everyday life an artful experience. The story of Inch by Inch features a lovable inchworm who is very proud of his facility for measuring absolutely everything, including a robin’s tail, a flamingo’s necks, a toucan’s beak, a heron’s leg and a nightingale’s song.

Another enjoyable show. Zavier was familiar with the stories thus kept asking me when is xxx coming or yyy coming etc. And of cos he enjoyed the company of his little friends as well.

After the show, we went to Funan for lunch with the rest. :)

CM Zoo trip 2009

Today is Zavier's Sch excursion to the Zoo.  I went to his sch early 8am as DT supposed to go to work.  we stayed in sch, chit chat with his teachers while waiting for other kids/parents to arrive.  Can see who are Zavier's closer friends are from that short timing... he wld auto go find those few frens or his frens would also auto call him once they arrived and they would play around their classroom.

We set off on the sch bus ard 9+.  At this time, suddenly DT SMS and said that he took urgent leave and would meet me at the Zoo! hehehe...

The sch bus reached Zoo and all the kids were excitied running ard the area once alight from the bus.  The Zoo staff led us into a room and we were being introduced to some small animals.  Up close and personal with these small tame animals. Zavier would request to touch/sayang the small animals. :)

After that we collected our KFC and went to watch the splash show.  We ate and watch at the same time.  After the show, it's free and easy till 1215pm.  We walked with the rest of the laoshi to see Rhino, Lion, Cheetah, etc.  At a junction, we parted ways as the teachers are taking the sch bus back to sch while we continue to the kids playground.

This round, Zavier requested to sit on the horse.  Thus we bought the 3in1 package for him.  He bravely sat on the Horse, Merry go round and Horse Carriage. When we walked pass the Elephant ride area, Zavier also requested to sit on that! But Elephant ride abit too chiem for him to sit alone huh... so we didn't :p

We then walked to the hippo n tiger area then we headed to the exit.  It's too hot and tiring for us already. :)
